Electrospider, the Corriere della Sera interview with President Roberto Rizzo

The aeronautical engineer who wants to overcome transplants "I produce printers designed to create organs for bodies"

Roberto Rizzo, President of SolidWorld GROUP, gave an interview to Corriere della Sera to talk about the new 3D bioprinting technology Electrospider intended mainly for regenerative medicine, as it is able to perfectly reproduce 3D cell constructs. This printer promises to solve two problems of the surgery, or transplantation and rejection.

Four years ago I began to see the human body as a machine, the most complex that exists. Forget about brain, thought and consciousness. I am talking about the bodies that perform the most disparate functions and are compacted in a very restricted and interconnected environment. So we created a three-dimensional scanning software that transforms tomography and magnetic resonance imaging into digital models of these organs. Think about the advantages in the case of metastasis to the liver: the surgeon has in hand a perfect model, knows where to cut. And in fact, the trial has already served in cardiac and renal interventions, in bifid spines, in the separations of Siamese twins" explain Roberto Rizzo, President of SolidWorld GROUP.
